Step 4 — Programme the Scale
Using the scale's front panel or USB programming tool (refer to your scale's own manual), enter a PLU entry for each item. The PLU number must be the same as what you entered in Step 3 on the item record.
Daily Use
Once setup is complete, the cashier's process is simply:
- Customer places a weighed item on the counter.
- Cashier scans the barcode label.
- The item appears in the cart with the weight and price filled in.
- Proceed to payment as normal.

What the Barcode Contains
If you are curious, here is what the scale encodes inside its 13-digit barcode:
| Part of the Barcode | What It Holds |
| First digit | Scale prefix (e.g. 2) — tells PH POS this is a scale barcode |
| Next 5 digits | PLU number — identifies which item this is |
| Next 5 digits | Weight in grams or total price — depending on Scale Rule mode |
| Last digit | A check digit — PH POS uses this to confirm the barcode was read correctly |
